Heather Sharp, PhD, is a senior lecturer at the University of Newcastle. She is part of a research team that was awarded a Swedish Research Council Grant (2018-2021) investigating historical consciousness and moral consciousness. She is convenor of the History Network for Teachers and Researchers (HNTR); a Special Issues Editor of Historical Encounters; and the Sungrapho (peer reviewed) editor of the Agora Journal. Her current research investigates the teaching of difficult pasts, the influence of public history in teaching, and historical representations in school curriculum.
Heather is a former high school teacher who now teaches initial pre-service teacher education, supervises doctoral students, and leads annual study tours to cultural and historical sites associated with WWI in France and Belgium.
She recently authored Remembering for Peace: The Adventures of Emma and Ryan, a picture book that seeks to deal with and critique the issue of World War I remembrance and how conflict impacts people and the environment even 100 years after the end of the conflict.

Sie ist Teil eines Projektes zur Erforschung von historischem und moralischem Bewusstsein, das vom schwedischen Wissenschaftsrat gefördert wird (2018-2021). Sie ist Vorsitzende des History Network for Teachers and Researchers (HNTR), Sonderausgaben-Herausgeberin von Historical Encounters und Redakteurin des Sungrapho-Teils (Peer-Reviewed) des Agora Journal. Ihre aktuellen Forschungsschwerpunkte sind das Unterrichten schwieriger Vergangenheiten, der Einfluss der Public History im Unterricht und historische Darstellungen im Lehrplan.
Sharp ist eine ehemalige Gymnasiallehrerin, die heute die Erstausbildung von Lehrern unterrichtet, Doktoranden betreut und jährliche Studienreisen zu kulturellen und historischen Stätten im Zusammenhang mit dem Ersten Weltkrieg in Frankreich und Belgien durchführt.
Zuletzt verfasste sie Remembering for Peace: The adventures of Emma and Ryan, ein Bilderbuch das die Erinnerung an den Ersten Weltkrieg thematisiert sowie kritisiert und sich damit auseinandersetzt, wie Konflikte Menschen und die Umwelt auch 100 Jahre nach ihrem Ende beeinflussen.
