Doç. Dr. Mustafa Gündüz, Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi (İstanbul), Eğitim Fakültesinde öğretim üyesidir. Ankara Üniversitesi’nde yüksek lisans ve doktora yaptı. Temel akademik alanı, eğitim tarihi, eğitim sosyolojisi ve eğitim felsefesidir. Özellikle Cumhuriyet öncesi eğitim sorunlarıyla ilgilenmektedir. Son zamanlarda 19. yüzyılda eğitim ve modernleşme gelişimini Orta Doğu ülkeleri bağlamında karşılaştırmalı olarak incelemektedir. Şu anda (2015 Şubat’a kadar) Princeton Üniversitesi NES bölümünde misafir öğretim üyesidir.

Mustafa Gündüz, PhD (*1976), is an Associated Professor on the Faculty of Education, Yıldız Technical University (Istanbul/Turkey). Graduate Studies and 2006 doctoral thesis at Ankara University. His main research interests are related to the history of education, educational philosophy and sociology. Focuses are on the history of Turkish education, especially before the founding of modern Republic of Turkey. He is currently researching modernization and education during the 19th century in the Middle East, and he will compare the modernization process in the Ottoman Empire, Russia, Austria-Hungary, and İran. He will be pursuing his research as a visiting fellow until January 2015 at Princeton University (USA).

Mustafa Gündüz, Dr. phil. (*1976), ist Professor an der Fakultät für Erziehungswissenschaften der Yıldız Technical University (Istanbul/Türkei). Studium und Promotion (2006) an der Ankara University. Seine Forschungsinteressen liegen auf dem Gebiet der Bildungsgeschichte, Bildungsphilosophie and Soziologie. Spezielle Aufmerksamkeit gilt der türkischen Bildungsgeschichte, besonders vor der Gründung der modernen Türkei. Zur Zeit untersucht er die Modernisierung und Bildung während des 19. Jahrhunderts im Nahen Osten, und er will eine vergleichende Perspektive dieses Modernisierungsprozesses entwickeln im Hinblick auf das Osmanische Reich, Rußland, Österreich-Ungarn und Persien. Bis Januar 2015 wird er diese Forschungen als Gastwissenschaftler der Princeton University (USA) vorantreiben.
