Juniele Rabêlo de Almeida, PhD, is Associate Professor of Contemporary Brazilian History and Public History at Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF - Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). She is part of the founding group of the Brazilian Network for Public History (RBHP). Co-director of the Laboratory of Oral and Image History (LABHOI-UFF).

Her publications include collective works of Public History (organization) - in collaboration with the Brazilian Network for Public History and Letra e Voz Editora (Brazil): “Introdução à História Pública”(2011); “História pública no Brasil: sentidos e itinerários” (2016); “História oral e movimento social: narrativas públicas” (2016); “História pública em debate: patrimônio, educação e mediações do passado”(2018), “História oral e educação” – coleção “História Oral e Dimensões do Público” (2019).

She received her Ph.D. from the University of São Paulo in 2010. Her dissertation was published in 2015 as “Tropas em protesto: manifestações policiais militares no Brasil, anos 1990”. Visiting professor - post doctorate (2020), at University of California - UC Berkeley, to initiate a dialogue over public dimensions of history between the UFF Oral History and Image Laboratory and the UC Berkeley Oral History Center.

Recent publications include “História Pública em Movimento” (2021, Letra e Voz Editora); “Anarquia e Anarquismos: Práticas de liberdade entre histórias de vida - Brasil/Portugal”(NAU Editora, Brazil; Clássica Editora, Portugal, 2021) as well as numerous articles on the public debates in Brazilian contemporary history and discussions over the democratization of Brazilian education (public history, oral history and political narratives).
