Heidi Norman, PhD, is based at the University of Technology Sydney as Professor for Social and Political Sciences. Her research has included: a history of the NSW Annual Aboriginal Rugby League Knockout; the social and economic impact of mining on Gomeroi lands; study of economic change over time and relationship to Aboriginal lives in cities. In 2015 she published a political history of Aboriginal land rights in NSW titled 'What Do We Want? A Political History of Aboriginal Land Rights in NSW'; in 2020 she edited a study of  45 years of media reporting of Aboriginal political aspirations. Since 2018 she has been researching the social, economic and cultural benefits of Aboriginal land repossession in NSW.
She is an award winning researcher and teacher. She was awarded the UTS research excellence medal for collaboration (2015), National Teaching Excellence Award for her work in Indigenous studies (2016), awarded the inaugural Gough Whitlam Research Fellowship (2017-18) and in 2018 she was announced as a 'Top 5' ABC humanities researcher. Heidi Norman, PhD, ist Professorin für Sozial- und Politikwissenschaften an der University of Technology (Sydney). Seit 2018 erforscht sie den sozialen, wirtschaftlichen und kulturellen Nutzen der Landrückgabe von Aborigines in NSW.
Sie ist eine preisgekrönte Forscherin und Dozentin. Sie erhielt die UTS-Forschungsexzellenzmedaille für Zusammenarbeit (2015), den National Teaching Excellence Award für ihre Arbeit im Bereich indigene Studien (2016), das erste Gough Whitlam Research Fellowship (2017-18) und wurde 2018 als "Top 5"-Forscherin der ABC Geisteswissenschaften ausgezeichnet. Sie ist eine Nachfahrin des Volkes der Gomeroi aus dem Nordwesten von NSW, Mitglied von AIATSIS und Leiterin des "Indigenous Land and Justice Research Hub" an der UTS.
