Stefan Troebst, German historian and slavicist, professor. He was assistant and associate professor of history at the Free University in Berlin (1984-92), member of the missions of long duration of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Macedonia and Moldova (1992-95) and founding director of the Danish-German European Centre for Minority Issues (ECMI) in Flensburg (1996-98). Since 1999 he has been Professor of East European Cultural History at the University of Leipzig and Deputy Director of the Leipzig Centre for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe (GWZO). Several publications on the history and culture of Southeastern and East-Central Europe. His research also focuses on questions of historical culture and politics, the visualisation of history and the presence of history in the public sphere.

Stefan Troebst, deutscher Historiker und Slawist, Professor, war Assistent und außerordentlicher Professor für Geschichte an der Freien Universität Berlin (1984-92), Mitglied der Langzeitmissionen der Organisation für Sicherheit und Zusammenarbeit in Europa (OSZE) in Mazedonien und Moldawien (1992-95) und Gründungsdirektor des Dänisch-Deutschen Europäischen Zentrums für Minderheitenfragen (ECMI) in Flensburg (1996-98). Seit 1999 ist er Professor für Osteuropäische Kulturgeschichte an der Universität Leipzig und stellvertretender Direktor des Leipziger Zentrums für Geschichte und Kultur Ostmitteleuropas (GWZO). Mehrere Publikationen zur Geschichte und Kultur Südost- und Ostmitteleuropas. Zu seinen Forschungsschwerpunkten gehören auch Fragen der Geschichtskultur und -politik, der Visualisierung von Geschichte und der Präsenz von Geschichte im öffentlichen Raum.
