Assistant professor at University of Wrocław. 2000-2016 in the Institute of National Remembrance, 2011-2016 as its president. Since 2017 president of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience. Co-editor (with Grzegorz Waligóra) of the history of Solidarity (in 6 volumes, 2010).

W latach 2000-2006 w IPN, 2011-2016 prezes Instytutu. Od 2017 prezes Platformy Europejskiej Pamięci i Sumienia. Współredaktor (z Grzegorzem Waligórą) sześciotomowej historii NSZZ Solidarność.
