Kariman Mango is a history teacher, International Baccalaureate examiner and Head of Department at the Ahliyyah and Mutran schools in Amman Jordan. Kariman has a Bachelor's degree in Archaeology from the University of Jordan and began her teaching career in 1998. She has taught in several international school systems, most recently the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. Kariman is particularly interested in innovative approaches to teaching History and Social Studies in the classroom. Kariman has developed innovative History teaching material based on recommendations by UNESCO in their report, “On a Common Path”, and edited lessons as part of the “Learning about You(r) History Project” managed by Euroclio. Additionally, Kariman has authored a series of History reference books for the Arab International Academy (School) in Doha, Qatar. Mango is interested in the way History and specifically Arab and Islamic History is taught in the Arab world and its links to cultural identity. She lives in Amman Jordan with her husband and son.
