Christina Koulouri, Ph.D is Professor in Modern and Contemporary History and Rector of Panteion University of Political and Social Sciences (Athens, Greece). She studied at the University of Athens (Department of History and Archaeology), the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales and Paris I-Panthéon-Sorbonne where she also received her PhD. She was Senior Research Fellow at Université de Paris I-Panthéon-Sorbonne (2010), Visiting Research Fellow at Princeton University (2017) and at the University of Regensburg (2019). Coordinator of many research projects. Recently, coordinator of the project “Realms of memory of the Greek Revolution, 19th -20th centuries” (funded by the Hellenic Parliament Foundation for Parliamentarism and Democracy, 2017-2020) and co-cordinator of the project The forgotten decades: Greek-German relations from the late 1950s to the 1980s - University partnership between Panteion University of Athens and the University of Regensburg, funded by DAAD (2020-2022). Lecturer at many international conferences in Greece, Western and Southeast Europe, USA, Japan and China. Author of several books and articles on the teaching of history, the history of historiography, school textbooks, national identity, public history and the history of sports and the Olympic Games. She is also the editor of six workbooks (alternative educational materials) for the teaching of modern and contemporary history in Southeast Europe which have been translated into ten languages. Her last book Historical Memory in Greece, 1821-1930. Performing the Past in the Present will be published in 2023 by Routledge.
